When I first began actually trying to build websites was back in the early two thousands. I cannot recall which year but it matters little as I did begin. In those days it was all FTP which is simple and quite straight forward. Now it is SSH-Keys and www-data users and shell users and what not. Uploading used to be quick and easy and for an expert it still is. For a guy like me it makes me want to go back to college and get a degree in IT as I think that is the type of knowledge I am frustrated not to have.

This afternoon I decided I would also write of my progress, not to bellyache but to compare notes. Comparing notes might be difficult as this website is pretty much a one way street so use your imagination. I think that those who come here, though, will also feel the need to see if they’re doing better or worse than the old guy down the block. In the end, who the heck knows?

Also, speaking of one way, I have decided to put up a Mastodon website just in case anyone does want to compare notes. I took the one I had down (no members after three weeks) to save a few bucks but that made no sense after the fact. I bet I’m not the only one who does stuff then regrets it? I’ll have this website up tomorrow as for now I am fried from upload interruptions from being dumber than a post.
